Feasibility Study
High Peak Borough Council recognises that Melandra Roman Fort has significant potential to become a community and tourist asset. The fort is a unique archaeological site located in a protected wildlife area, located near to tourist destinations such as Glossop, New Mills, the Hope Valley and the Peak District. The site borders a large housing estate which presents excellent opportunities for community use.
High Peak Borough Council have put forwards some funding to undertake a Feasibility Study for the site. This study will draw on the assessments undertaken through the Melandra 2024 project and will put forward potential options for the future use and conservation of the site.
The objective of the report is to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the site's potential for sustainable preservation, development, conservation, and public engagement.
